Merlin (she/her/elle) is an award-winning performer, playwright, dramaturge, and screenwriter originally from Missiquois (Estrie), now based in Tkarón:to (Toronto). 

Merlin splits her artistic practice between XR, Theatre, and Film. Having worked all over Turtle Island (Canada) and internationally, her work focuses on themes of access, gender euphoria, technology, and multilingual performance.

As a performer, Merlin has worked with Stratford, Factory Theatre, Tarragon, Crow’s Theatre, Outside The March, Buddies In Bad Times, and many other theatre companies across Turtle Island. She has also acted on Grand Army (Netflix) and This Life (CBC).

In English, the development of Merlin’s plays have been supported by many theatre companies, including Theatre Passe Muraille (Fear Of Men) and Nightwood Theatre (a free britney), amongst others. In French, her play Zaddy Issues was released as an audio drama in collaboration with Theatre Français de Toronto and Theatre Action. Her work has also been supported by the CAC, OAC, and TAC, and published by Playwright’s Canada Press, Canadian Theatre Review, and several other publications. 

Merlin has written on several VR and Short film projects as a screenwriter. She is currently developing a show with Moi et Dave and TFO. Merlin co-wrote and starred in Poils Anyways (dir. Marie-Claire Marcotte), which is currently touring and has been presented at Trans Stellar Film Festival, Louisiana Rainbow LGBT+ Film Festival, and Vegas Shorts. Merlin also works as a script consultant. 

Merlin was the dramaturge intern at Theatre Passe Muraille in 2021, and is currently the associate dramaturge at Theatre Passe Muraille and has received support from the LMDA’s ECD grant. She is currently the dramaturge on many new plays in both French and English. Merlin is also the Facilitator of the Paprika Festival’s Playwright Unit.  

She also has a separate practice as a facilitator (Actra, Tarragon, Passe Muraille, Paprika) and a theatre translator. She also has worked on the selection committee for the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council and Théâtre Français de Toronto. 

Merlin co-founded BigT with Lior Maharjan. The collective, with the mandate of uplifting trans and gender-nonconforming stories, has several projects in development, including a residency with Theatre Passe Muraille, where they are currently developing a VR experience of gender euphoria. They have also been in residency with Buddies In Bad Times as part of the ECU where they created E-TRANSFERS.

She also co-runs Digital Cauldron with Raven John and Rinchen Dolma, a collective creating XR-based performances. In 2022, they presented a VR presentation of Sarah Ruhl’s adaption of Orlando and have since collaborated with PXR and SwirlsXaRt.

Elle est actuellement dramaturge sur de nombreuses nouvelles pièces en français et en anglais. Merlin est aussi la faciliatrice du Playwright’s Unit au Paprika Festival.

Elle a également une pratique distincte en tant que facilitatrice (Actra, Tarragon, Passe Muraille, Paprika) et traductrice de théâtre. Elle a fait partie du comité de sélection du Conseil des arts de Toronto (TAC), du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario (CAO) et du Théâtre Français de Toronto.

Merlin a cofondé BigT avec Lior Maharjan.
