Merlin (she/they) is an award-winning performer, playwright, dramaturge, and screenwriter originally from Missiquois (Estrie), now based in Tkarón:to (Toronto).
Merlin splits her artistic practice between XR, Theatre, and/or Film. Having worked all over Turtle Island (North america) and internationally, her work focuses on themes of access, gender euphoria, technology, and multilingual performance.
As a performer, Merlin has worked with Stratford, Factory Theatre, Tarragon, Crow’s Theatre, Outside The March, Buddies In Bad Times, Toronto Dance Theatre, ThÈÂTRE FRANÇAIS DE TORONTO, and many other theatre companies. She has also acted on Grand Army (Netflix) and This Life (CBC).
In English, the development of Merlin’s plays has been supported by many artistic institutions, including Theatre Passe Muraille (Fear Of Men) and Nightwood Theatre (a free britney). In French, her play Zaddy Issueswas released as an audio drama in collaboration with Théâtre Français de Toronto and Théâtre Action. In both languages, Her work has also been supported by the CAC, OAC, and TAC and published by Playwright’s Canada Press, Canadian Theatre Review, and several other publications.
Merlin has written on several VR and Short film projects as a screenwriter. Most recently, she co-wrote and starred in Poils Anyways (dir. Marie-Claire Marcotte), which is currently touring and has been presented at Trans Stellar Film Festival, Louisiana Rainbow LGBT+ Film Festival, and Vegas Shorts. Merlin also works as a script consultant and script coordinator.
Merlin was the dramaturge intern at Theatre Passe Muraille in 2021 and has received support from the Lmda’s Early Career dramaturge residency grant. She is currently the dramaturge on many new plays in both French and English. She is currently facilitating the Playwright’s Unit at the Paprika Festival.
She also has a separate practice as a workshop and panel facilitator (Actra, Tarragon, Passe Muraille, Paprika, Reel canada) and a theatre translator. She has worked on the selection committee for the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council and Théâtre Français de Toronto.
Merlin co-founded BigT with Gabe Maharjan. The collective, with the mandate of uplifting trans and gender-nonconforming stories, has several projects in development, including a residency with Theatre Passe Muraille, where they are currently developing a VR experience of gender euphoria. They have also been in residency with Buddies In Bad Times as part of the ECU, where they created E-TRANSFERS.
She also co-runs Digital Cauldron with Raven John and Rinchen Dolma, a collective creating XR-based performances. In 2022, they presented a VR presentation of Sarah Ruhl’s adaption of Orlando and have since collaborated with PXR and SwirlsXaRt. They are currently in residency with Baby ghosts and Gamma Space.

Elle a également une pratique distincte en tant que facilitatrice de panel et d’ateliers (Actra, Tarragon, Passe Muraille, Paprika, Reel canada) et traductrice de théâtre. Elle a fait partie du comité de sélection du Conseil des arts de Toronto (TAC), du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario (CAO) et du Théâtre Français de Toronto.
Merlin a cofondé BigT avec Gabe Maharjan. Le collectif, avec le mandat d'élever des histoires de la transidentité, a plusieurs projets en développement, dont une résidence avec le Théâtre Passe Muraille, où ils développent actuellement une expérience VR d'euphorie de genre. Ils ont également été en résidence avec Buddies In Bad Times dans le cadre de l'ECU où ils ont créé E-TRANSFERS.
